FAQ

1. Where do you teach?

735 S Pelham rd Welland

2. What would a typical session entail?

That would all depend on the level of your ability. Are you a beginner or a professional? Do you have pitch issues? Does your throat hurt when you sing? Do you have any vocal damage? What genre of music are you singing? Do you play an instrument? Are you a songwriter? Are you recording music? Are you working towards a performance or tour?

Singing live can be different than singing in a recording studio. The goal live is to deliver a dynamic performance and entertain the audience because there is a visual. One must keep in mind that it is easy to overdo it when entertaining, as there is an adrenaline rush, which can result in pushing the voice too much if not careful. A recording environment can be more relaxing as you do not have to worry about keeping an audience visually entertained. If you need to rest your voice for a few minutes or take a break it is more of a possibility.  So, in the studio, the goal is to deliver bleeding heart emotion so that it hits a nerve in potential listeners.

The training for each scenario could be entirely different. To train for live playing, you need to be able to learn on a microphone through a PA system. To train for studio performance, you need to be recording and listening back to your voice. Environmental training is the key to singing dynamically and effectively in either scenario.

3. Do you teach children?

Yes, however, it is not so much about the child's age as it is about attention span. I believe that for young children, it is more about building confidence and making sure they have fun learning than technical ability. A 15 to 20-minute consultation is required to see if the child would benefit from the sessions. There is no charge for the consultation. No consultations for home visits.
